December 8th Frantically Uploading

Hi Joey, I hope you're reading this. I am sitting here frantically uploading images to my blog. I can barely find anything. I still haven't gotten my illustration of my word (week 7) back from Therese so thats missing. I guess at this point I am just hoping that my work has made enough of an impact on you that you'll remember it. I have done a lot of things that I am really proud of in this class. I worked really hard on my final project, and every assignment although now possibly lost, I did complete, come to class and present it. From the beginning I was scared of the blog because I know I am not an organized person and keeping that blog updated I knew would be impossible for me. I hope a) you have a good memory or b) you kept track of the work presented in class. So here are some pictures of the work that I could find. Please be kind!

Collages

These are some of the collages that I made that I kept, again forgive me for my lack of organization, but honestly I think these were the only ones worth keeping.

Final Project Proposal

For this final project, I am looking at combining the different elements of fundamental design that we have learned this year. I plan on using different color systems, textures, and compositional flow to illustrate different emotions. I plan on doing it in an installation. The installation will be a semi-transparent wall that allows for projection, I will then project on the outside and the user will see it on the inside of the the wall.
This is a smaller version of my original idea, the experiential box, in which the user was inside a cube where all surfaces are being projected onto. This was obviously not feasible. As far as referencing goes, technically I would like to reference Pavel Paulou and his work, "Drive In (from the series Parking Lot)" 2005. The actual images weren't that interesting but the interface fascinated me. When you walked in the room there were four different projections one on each wall. Each wall was a different view.
As far as stylistically I would like to reference, Gilles Boisvert for his piece "Ecriture Noire". It is very dynamic, lots of texture as well as using text in a dynamic fashion. I also liked to painting by Jacques Hurtabise, "Fanette", just compositionally I think its great. The two colors work so well together, turquoise grey and a beautiful red.

Fun with Drawing

I'm being bad at keeping this thing up, I have finally put this site as a permanent bookmark in my browser so hopefully that will give me more motivation. I have to say that I really enjoyed the last few exercises. Tomorrow I plan on scanning all the drawings so far. We have our class with Joey tomorrow, I am excited to do some collage work.

First Day of School

Back from NYC, first day of school. Testing the blog. Hopefully this picture next to my writing works. I spent the summer traveling like crazy, I started in Boston visiting some friends in May. I then left for Honolulu, Hawaii. I studied printing a painting at the University of Hawaii. I then flew to NYC to start my internship with Oxygen Media. I was eventually hired by Oxygen Media as a freelancer, which I continue to do.
